Adhi and Nani - Series 2

Adhi about 3 yrs old ..

We have all boarded the Netravati express .. dinner is done and preparing for sleep ..

As is the custom, we pull the middle seat and spread our bedsheets ..

Nani ... as usual has something to advise .. she as usual asks my sister to change Adhi's nappy.

"Adda .. Avalude Naapi kettu" - (Tie her a nappy) ..

Adhi is listening very attentively .. she usually gives a lot of attention to whatever Nani says .. but will always act as if she is ignoring her ...

"Adda .. Avalude Naapi kettu" - (Tie her a nappy) ..

After 3 to 4 times that Nani had mentioned this .. Adhi could not take it more ..

She had to speak up now .. She wondered how can Nani not know this .. how can she be so naive ..

""Nani .. Naapi kettuvu alla .. Naapi edduva .." - (Nani .. One does not tie a nappy .. one wears a nappy ..) ..

The Majestic Mango Tree ..

The Mango Tree ..

He stands majestically outside my balcony ..
Tall ... dark green leaves ..
spreading his arms ..
holding bunches of mangoes ..

There is a creeper ..
Creeping around his long arms ..

As if finding a meaning to
its own existence ..

There are some grass ..
some small weeds ..
that are growing at the
roots of the mango tree ..

Those small ones are ..
as if scared of something ..
taking shelter under this
majestic mango tree ..

A bunch of birds ..
chirp around this mango tree ..
As if they are narrating stories ..
from their flight to a far away land ..

The birds the worms ..
eat the mangoes to their heart ..
Enjoy it relish it ..
Sing and dance around him

All of them survive
because the mango tree exists
Or is the Mango tree surviving
because he has so many friends ..

Is the subsistence of the
Mango tree for all of them
Is he majestic or they
make him majestic ..

How long will he stand like this
spreading his arms protecting everyone ..
How long will he give fruits ..
Making everyone happy ..

How long will his endurance last ?

What would happen ..
the day he is tired ..
the day he says he wants to sit ..
The day he wants to put his hands down ..

Will they all be still there ..
Will they all still make him the majestic mango tree??

Adhi and Nani - Series 1

Adhi my niece and Nani my mum .. they both look alike yet are so different .. they both enjoy each others company yet fight like cat and mice ..

Adhi has a a strange issue with Nani .. Nani .. the biggest problem of her life .. her biggest complaint to the GOD .. why ??? why did he give her such a MOTI Nani ...???!!!!

She would cuddle around with everyone .. hug all .. be it Dadi, Dada, Nana and Mama but if Nani asks for a hug .. its a big No ..

She wont smile at her .. She wont talk to her affectionately .. Why you ask her ..

Why Adhi .. what is your problem with Nani .. "Nani otthiri Moti aanu" - !!! (Nani is very fat)

But why is that an issue Adhi ?? .. No .. Nani othiri othiri othiri othiri MOTI aanu ... !!! (Nani is very very very very fat)

All her life Nani never thought this could be a barrier to her communication to her sweet little poti... She was the first one to pick her up when she was born .. she told her stories when she was a baby .. she would talk to her for hours ..

Poor Nani .. is taking dieting these days .. has taken to more and more walking .. Hope some day she could win her sweet little grandchild back .. Adhi ..
